Dive Brief:
- InComm Healthcare, the healthcare arm of InComm Payments, is introducing a wellness rewards tool for Medicare Advantage and Medicaid health plan members, the company said in a press release.
- Through the program, which begins in January, patients can earn reward funds for flu shots, annual checkups and other healthcare-related tasks, according to the Tuesday press release.
- They can use the rewards they earn to pay for eligible items such as over-the-counter medicines, groceries and other wellness products at partner retailers, an InComm spokesperson said in an email.
Dive Insight:
InComm Payments views the wellness rewards program as a way to help insurers improve patient engagement, satisfaction and health outcomes, the Atlanta-based company noted in its press release. The program also aims to reduce the risk of physical rewards card theft and ensure that products purchased comply with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ regulations, the release noted.
“We developed our digital distribution platform to meet member expectations for faster recognition and more convenient redemption options,” Joe Donato, senior vice president and general manager at InComm Healthcare, said in the press release. “Participating members will soon have instant access to their reward funds by simply opening an email, text or their plan's benefit app on their smartphone.”
Prior to its healthcare focus, InComm Payments developed partnerships with other payments players to expand its reach. The company spokesperson declined to share revenue figures, but said InComm Payments has about 2,500 employees.
In 2021, InComm Payments teamed up with Mastercard to offer a debit card to Walgreens customers linked to the retailer’s loyalty program.
Later that year, the company collaborated with Doxo, a bill payment service provider, to allow customers to pay their bills with cash at retailers such as Family Dollar, Dollar General and 7-Eleven. With that integration, shoppers could pay insurance, credit card, internet, utility and other bills.
