Paymend, the leading revenue recovery platform, today announced the appointment of Javier Vallaure de la Paz as Chief Operating Officer.
This strategic hire signals a new phase of growth for Paymend. As the company scales, it is defining a new category in payments: a recovery layer that sits after a merchant’s existing infrastructure and recovers the revenue that their current stack was never built to catch.
The appointment comes at a moment of significant momentum: Paymend has recovered more than $200M in revenue for over 100 merchants. Javier joins to lead the company’s next stage: scaling to a far larger merchant base, building out a partner network across the payments ecosystem and expanding Paymend’s product lines.
He brings a career spent building the payments infrastructure that global merchants run on. In 2013 he co-founded allpago, one of the first platforms to give international merchants access to local payment methods across Latin America, serving merchants including Adobe, Microsoft and Nintendo. PPRO acquired the company in 2019, and Javier served as Chief Operating Officer and then Chief Product Officer, scaling a global payments business used by world-leading brands including JP Morgan, PayPal and Stripe.
Commenting on the appointment, Jack Cregan, CEO and co-founder of Paymend, said: "Two years ago we were explaining to people why failed payments were even a problem worth solving. Today the question has changed from whether this works to how fast we can bring it to everyone who needs it. I could not be prouder of what this team has built, and I'm even more excited about where we're taking it. Javier has scaled payments infrastructure that some of the biggest merchants in the world depend on. Having him lead our operations means we get to say yes to far more merchants, far faster.”
Javier Vallaure de la Paz, incoming COO, added: "Every merchant I have worked with has been leaving revenue on the table at the moment of payment, and almost none of them could see it. Paymend has made that revenue visible and recoverable without asking anyone to touch their existing stack. The opportunity in front of us is bigger than the market realizes. My job now is to make sure the operation scales as fast as the business does."
As COO, Javier will lead Paymend's operations across merchant delivery, partner integrations and the systems that support the company's growth into new markets and product lines.
