Voltage Security, Ingenico partner on secure mobile POS solution

Online security company Voltage Security and POS and payment provider Ingenico announced they are expanding their relationship to improve the security of mobile payments. According to the companies, Voltage's SecureData Payments solution will be integrated into Ingenico's iSMP smart mobile EMV-enabled payment devices. In short, that means Voltage will provide end-to-end encryption and key management to protect payments made via the iSMP mobile device.

"For retailers of all sizes, mobile payments represent a top priority, yet this emerging marketplace remains inherently insecure," said Mark Bower, VP of product management for Voltage Security.

Bower said that by joining forces, the two companies will be able to offer retailers a high-security solution that lets them accept mobile payments and still maintain PCI compliance in their own store environments.

The companies said the combination of their solutions is easily implemented, highly scalable and instantly turns an iPhone or iPod touch into an EMV chip-and-PIN mobile POS solution.

"Based on our existing partnership with Voltage, our customers enjoy security and ease of use in our devices with the benefit of Voltage SecureData Payments already integrated with Ingenico's latest Telium platform," said Greg Boardman, SVP for Products and Development for Ingenico, North America.

"Now, by integrating this innovative technology into our iSMP smart mobile payment solution, we're privileged to take this level of advanced security into the critical area of mobile payments."
