After some doubts that the company would even survive, NFC POS-maker ViVOtech has completed the sale of its ViVOpay reader business to ID Tech. The company announced the news with a post to its website.

ID Tech is a manufacturer of smart card and credit card readers, scanners, barcode readers and POS terminals. Its white-label mobile credit card readers are used by a number of mobile POS companies on the market.

In ViVOtech's statement on the sale of its reader business, the company said it believes ID TECH will be the "ideal home for ViVOpay's people, products and customers." The company did not provide any financial terms of the deal or how it would affect ViVOtech employees.

As for ViVOtech's future plans, the company said the sale of its reader business is the first step in its new strategy to focus its efforts on its software business.
