ViVOtech Inc. announced it is a partner in the Google Wallet mobile payment product. The near field communication (NFC) technology provider said its technology is being utilized by Google Inc. to enable its new payment method at the point of sale (POS).

ViVOtech said in its announcement it is providing NFC POS readers to merchants interested in accepting Google Wallet payments and working with Google to provide integration between NFC POS readers and available POS software.

"ViVOtech has shipped more than 800,000 NFC readers globally, more than 600,000 in the U.S., all of which will now be capable of accepting payments from the Google Wallet," said ViVOtech CEO, Michael "Mick" Mullagh.

"ViVOtech's original vision for payments and mobile commerce is finally coming to fruition, and we are delighted to be supporting Google in its commercialization," added Mohammad Khan, ViVOtech's president and founder.
