Verra Mobility launches 'pay-as-you-go' toll-paying app
Tech-enabled smart transportation provider, Verra Mobility, has launched a nationwide, "pay-as-you-go" tolling service called Peasy that gives customers a way to pay tolls with a single account, a news release said.
The application simplifies toll payment by allowing drivers to travel on 95 percent of U.S. cashless toll roads and bridges without additional hardware, transponders or multiple accounts.
"For years we have been deploying and evolving our toll management platform for the commercial needs of large fleets and rental car companies, allowing them to travel seamlessly throughout the country and limit the penalties, fines and violations associated with tolling, all while making sure the toll authorities receive payment," Verra Mobility CEO David Roberts, said in the release. "Now that we cover 95 percent of all tolls nationwide, we're able to leverage that network and provide consumers with a much needed interoperable tolling experience."
The Peasy tolling service eliminates the need for pre-funding toll accounts, incurring unexpected penalties or fines, or paying tolls by mail thanks to its market-first pay-as-you go technology. The service works for drivers with an existing transponder or toll tag accounts, as well as for those without existing toll authority accounts.
Likewise, the service allows multiple-vehicle households to use one Peasy account. Subscribers can travel and pay tolls across state lines and different regional tolling authorities using a web and mobile-based account dashboard that tracks toll history and expenses.
"The launch of this service now allows drivers to skip the cash lane and go directly to the fast lane, no matter where or how often they use toll roads," Verra Mobility Executive Vice President of Emerging Markets Vincent Brigidi said in the release.
To set up accounts, drivers photograph their cars' license plates and add credit card information. Tolls are captured as incurred and automatically charged to the subscriber.
