VeriFone adds Android, multi-user support to SAIL
VeriFone released new features in its SAIL mobile point of sale product, including an Android version of the app. The new Android app is still considered a beta version, and VeriFone said it will be some time before every Android device on the market will be supported, but the most popular Android phones are compatible.
When VeriFone released its entry into the crowded mobile POS market in May, the app credit card reader and app were only compatible with iOS devices. In a post on SAIL blog, Dan Loomis, VeriFone director of product development, said demand for an Android version was intense.
"Over the past 6 weeks, many of you shared your frustration at our lack of an Android app, and we heard you loud and clear," Loomis said.
Along with the Android release, VeriFone is adding multi-user functionality to its app, supporting businesses that want to deploy more than one SAIL mobile POS terminal across a sales organization or staff. Access to a company's banking and profile information can be controlled.
The multi-user functionality also comes with reporting and analysis features that let a company track transactions and activities across an entire group of mobile POS terminals.
"These metrics can help you measure performance and sales by item across various users, and identify both top performers and areas for improvement," said Brian Hamilton, VeriFone's VP for small and medium business. Hamilton said expanded features for SAIL multi-user functionality will be available next week.
