VeriFone a part of McD's m-payment tests in France
McDonald's is testing PayPal at the point of sale in 30 locations in France, and VeriFone wants you to know it's involved as well. The company announced today that its Point Group is "providing key payment services" to the mobile ordering system that McDonald's has deployed to facilitate faster ordering at test loctions.
"Point's work with McDonald's in France provides yet another example of how VeriFone's payments-as-a-service solutions integrate the worlds of traditional point-of-sale and mobile payments," said Point CEO Johan Tjärnberg.
Specifically, Point Group is providing its Paybox gateway service to process payments for mobile pre-ordering. This lets McDonald's customers place an order and pay without waiting in line for personal service. Instead, they pick up a ticket at an unattended kiosk for "fast-track food pickup."
Point Group's Paybox is a suite of services that support merchants. It includes a secure processing platform for electronic payments coming from call centers, interactive voice services, e-commerce, and now mobile, as well.
