US Bancorp revises mobile banking app with financial analysis, iPhone security

U.S. Bancorp has unveiled a revamped mobile banking app featuring new security features for iPhone, personalized financial analysis using artificial intelligence, and a more intuitive interface.

The revised banking app, which incorporates insights from bank customers, offers users personalized analysis into spending habits, information about upcoming bill payments, and educational insights on savings and personal finance, according to a press release.

The app also includes easier access to Zelle, a person-to-person and bill payment tool. Users with an iPhone can also use Face ID  to login to the app.

"We developed every feature of the new U.S. Bank mobile app from insights that our customers shared with us," Tim Welsh, vice chairman of consumer and business banking, said in the release. "Using our customer-obsessed mindset, we included all the tools identified by consumers that would help them quickly, confidently and securely manage their finances at their fingertips."

The app is currently available for iPhone, with an Android version coming soon.

In the release, the bank revealed findings of a survey showing that more than one-third of Americans "wing it" with their finances, and said that many consumers are not getting the help they need from their mobile banking apps.

The study of 1,000 U.S. adults showed that 34 percent of respondents wanted money management advice on their smartphone.
