UnionBank, Lazada launch Philippines’ first e-commerce debit card

The UnionBank of the Philippines and the Lazada Philippines online shopping center is launching the country's first e-commerce debit card.

Powered by UnionBank's digital banking capabilities, the card is designed to give customers a seamless and secure experience while shopping online, according to a Back End News report.

The card lets cardholders earn two Lazada wallet credits for every P200 ($10) spent on Lazada's shopping site and one Lazada wallet credit for every P200 ($10) spent outside the Lazada platform.

Cardholders also receive special discounts and offers from selected LazMall merchants including access to pre-sales and mega-sales, according to the news report.

To open a UnionBank Lazada debit card account applicants can use the UnionBank Online app or the UnionBank microsite accessible via the Lazada website and app. Once applicants open an account they can start their online shopping.

As UnionBank debit cardholders, customers will be able to utilize the bank's digital banking solutions including cashless payments, money transfers to remittance centers, digital check deposits and other features. Cardholders also have options to fund their accounts including cash deposits at any UnionBank branch or cash deposit acceptance machine; interbank fund transfers via InstaPay, PESONet, or through Bancnet ATMs, or. through 7-Eleven and ECPay's partner merchants nationwide.
