Tabbedout, an Austin-based mobile payment company that lets restaurant goers pay their bills via a smartphone app, announced today it is certified on Focus POS software. Focus POS is a provider of point of sale software mainly for hospitality.

According to Tabbedout's release, the certification means more restaurants and bars can now offer a mobile payment option.

“Integrating with a POS leader like Focus POS allows us to offer our mobile payment solution to a wider network of bars and restaurants nationwide,” said Tabbedout CTO Dave Lemley.

The Tabbedout app, available for iPhone and Android, lets patrons at participating restaurants look at their tabs in real-time and pay the tab anytime, anywhere, the company said. The solution integrates directly with a merchant point of sale system so there's no need for additional hardware.

Now that Tabbedout is integrated with Focus POS, merchants using Focus POS terminals can eliminate some of the hassles associated with handling cash and credit cards, especially during peak service times, the company said.

“Our goal is to create a platform that enables merchants to incorporate the latest technologies and efficiencies without a lot of hassle,” said Focus POS COO Mike Hamm. “With Tabbedout, our merchants can spend less time closing tabs and more time serving customers.”
