Sprint, Vantiv release tablet-based mPOS system

Sprint and Vantiv have launched a tablet-based, cloud-connected point-of-sale system. Powered by NCR Silver, Vantiv Mobile Checkout makes it easier and more affordable for businesses to transition from traditional cash registers and manual processes to the latest integrated technology, the companies said.

The all-in-one solution, available through the Sprint business sales channel, helps business owners track sales and profitability, analyze and report on customer trends, manage inventory, market to customers and process sales on site or on location with secure payment processing, according to a news release.

The solution includes the tablet, wireless connectivity, encrypted card reader, tablet stand, cash drawer and countertop receipt printer, with scanners, Bluetooth printers and other retail accessories also available.

Vantiv said its Mobile Checkout enables businesses to:

  • Accept payments in the store, on the go or in a temporary/seasonal environment
  • Manage multi-store inventory, employees and timekeeping
  • Drive loyalty and increase sales with email marketing and social media campaigns
  • Connect with customers more effectively with real-time sales history.

The system gives businesses of all sizes access to a mobile point of sale solution that lets them sell in more places, the companies said.

For example, customers can use the solution at the checkout desk or on the sales floor, while using the card reader at tent and sidewalk sales, remote outdoor kiosks and in a customer's home or business, which is necessary for field service employees.

Vantiv services about 400,000 merchant locations in the U.S.
