SEQR goes to Romania
Swedish mobile payment company Seamless is taking its SEQR platform to Romania. The country's Garanti Bank will partner with Seamless to roll the SEQR mobile payment solution in the Romanian market, Seamless said.
"We are delighted that Garanti Bank can roll out SEQR in the Romanian market in such a short time," said Peter Fredell, CEO of Seamless. "Romania has a fast-growing banking sector. It does not have the sluggishness of older banking structures, which is a huge advantage. Garanti Bank can therefore introduce modern payment solutions such as SEQR without needing to take other solutions into consideration."
Through its partnership with Garanti Bank, Seamless will receive a fee for every mobile payment transaction made by Garanti Bank customers. The service is free for customers to use.
SEQR uses either QR codes or NFC at the point of sale to make a purchase through the SEQR app. Customers scan a code at the register to identify the purchase as theirs and then approve the amount on their SEQR app using a PIN code.
