Sage Pay, MoBank partner on mcommerce offering

Sage Pay, the U.K. and Ireland’s leading independent payment service provider, is partnering with mobile commerce provider The MoBank Group to give its 40,000-plus merchants easy integration into the mobile channel using Mobank's secure Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) mCommerce solution, MoPowered.

According to Sage Pay, its customers will be able to take advantage of opportunities in mobile commerce now, giving Sage Pay access to new revenue while providing customers with more choice and flexibility.

"Mobile commerce is growing rapidly, and more consumers are using their mobiles to make online purchases," said Dominic Keen, chief executive of MoBank.

But according to a MoBank report, retailers aren't keeping up with consumer demands. The report said that even though 89 percent of small and medium retailers believed m-commerce was a necessity for the growth of their business, only 24 percent had integrated an m-commerce site.

With its new partnership, Sage Pay can offer a fully transactional mobile commerce site within a matter of weeks, the companies said. The sites are fully compatible with payment card industry data security standards and feature a flexible pricing model developed to suit the SME market.

"We are passionate about helping retailers of all sizes to take advantage of the opportunities offered by m-commerce," Keen said.

"Mobile commerce is a rapidly growing channel which our merchants need to take advantage of," said John Fitchett, channel manager at Sage Pay. The company is actively looking to help its clients get onto mobile, he said.
