ROAM Data, an m-commerce platform provider, announced its new ROAMwallet API. ROAMwallet lets consumers purchase products quickly and conveniently using their mobile devices through secure mobile apps and even through advertisements.

According to the announcement, unlike other mobile wallet products that store data on a secure chip on the consumers' devices, the ROAMwallet stores data in the cloud. This allows consumers to access their information, and make purchases, from any phone, tablet, POS system or computer.

"Mobile commerce is all about convenience," Will Graylin, founder and CEO of ROAM Data, said in the announcement. "The more convenient we can make the experience, the more revenue merchants will generate."

The ROAMwallet API is currently available in a beta version. The full release in July will also include an integrated mobile coupon service called ROAMoffers that will give merchants and advertisers the ability to create campaigns ands coupons delivered directly to customers' phones via text and email message, through social networking sites or even through 2-D barcodes on print advertisements.

In the announcement, Leonardo Riera, CFO of ROAM Data customer GeeVee, said his company selected ROAMwallet because the product is built specifically for enhancing the mcommerce experience. "(ROAM Data) designed their secure checkout process especially for mobile apps, providing us with more security, more data and more convenience for our customers using virtually any device," Riera said.
