Pinkberry calls new 'scan-to-pay' app a success

Pinkberry launched its new mobile loyalty app last month with great consumer fanfare, according to a company press release. In fact, 32 percent of all in-store transactions now take place through the iPhone app. Android users will be able to download the app next month.

The new solution gives customers a smoother in-store experience, including an app that lets customers pay via a bar code that is scanned at the point of sale. Scan-to-pay technology allows for a faster, more efficient payment and Pinkberry estimates that the new app experience will reduce transaction time by nearly two thirds compared to paying with cash, according to the release.

Since the mobile app is the center for Pinkberry's Pinkcard loyalty program, the app will feature enhanced ways for users to interact, including an updated e-gifting experience that is personal and dynamic and the ability to easily track their loyalty points. Once a customer accrues 10 points, he receives a free yogurt. As with the previous version, customers who download and enroll in the Pinkcard receive a free yogurt on their birthdays and personalized offers based on behavior, such as earning double points on certain purchases.
