PayPal makes second strategic investment in Tink
Open banking platform Tink has received a second strategic investment from PayPal and a prior commercial agreement between the companies will be extended to include all countries within the European Economic Area.
PayPal originally announced an investment in Tink in June 2019 in which PayPal agreed to leverage Tink's account aggregation technology for PayPal customers, according to a press release on the second investment.
"PayPal is one of the world's leading fintech companies, serving more than 330 million consumers and merchants in more than 200 markets worldwide," Daniel Kjellen, PayPal co-founder and CEO, said in the release. "So we are honored to have been selected to help this global leader, and delighted to have this opportunity to extend our relationship with them following this new agreement and strategic investment."
Tink said the second PayPal investment is connected to the 90 million euro funding announcement originally made in January 2020.
