OfficeMax joins up with Google Wallet

The Google Wallet continues to add merchants to its stable of partners. Today, office supply store OfficeMax Inc. announced it has launched new checkout terminals in more than 100 of its stores that let customers pay with a tap using their Google Wallets as well as redeem coupons and loyalty reward points.

OfficeMax said the new terminals, powered by Google Wallet partner MasterCard, are available at stores in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Washington D.C.

"OfficeMax is interested in using the very latest technology to deliver a faster, easier and personalized in-store shopping experience for our customers, and mobile payments with Google Wallet lets us do just that," said OfficeMax EVP and Chief Merchandising Officer Ryan Vero in a statement.

Vero said accepting the Google Wallet is one of many recent mobile programs OfficeMax has rolled out to help provide customers with a truly customized and engaging shopping experience.

Google VP of Payment Osama Bedier said in the announcement that Google is excited to add OfficeMax to its roster of merchants.
