National ATM Council urges support for Payment Choice Act

The National ATM Council, Inc. has encouraged its members to support The Payment Choice Act (HR 2650) to ensure that U.S. consumers continue to have the freedom to pay for goods and services with cash at retail. The measure would prevent businesses from refusing to accept cash as payment or from charging higher prices to customers who pay with cash.

"By fighting for this bill, we are fighting for the rights of all U.S. citizens and for the continued health of our livelihoods, our customers, our employees and, most importantly our families," George Sarantopoulos, NAC board chair, said in a letter to members.

Sarantopoulos said in passing The Payment Choice Act, the NAC can make 2020 the year of the Independent ATM Deployer. He encouraged members to contact their lawmakers to support the bill. Members can contact NAC for contact information for their representatives and senators.

Sarantopoulos also welcomed Joseph Lee to NAC's board of directors and extended the board's thanks to outgoing board member David Braddock.
