NAB makes it easy for developers to add mobile POS functionality
Troy, Mich.-based payment processor North American Bancard (NAB) is making it easier for developers to add a mobile payment component to their applications. The company announced the release of its Pay Anywhere Software Development Kit (SDK).
Similar to other mobile point-of-sale products, Pay Anywhere is a free app and credit card reader that turns a mobile phone into a payment terminal. The new SDK for Pay Anywhere is a "plug and pay" API that lets developers who want to add that mobile payment acceptance to their apps with minimal effort.
According to NAB, the developer's app would handle things like setting the amount or itemization and pass it along to via Pay Anywhere's API to complete the transaction. A more advanced version of the SDK is available as well. It performs in a similar fashion but removes Pay Anywhere branding from the application.
"Our goal in making the Pay Anywhere SDK available is enable developers to create apps that provide merchants with a smooth payment processing experience," said Marc Gardner, NAB founder and president. "The Pay Anywhere mobile payment platform comes with nearly 20 years of experience in credit card processing, and this allows developers the freedom and peace-of-mind to concentrate on what matters most to them – app development."
The SDK is currently free and open to third-party developers of both Android and iPhone applications.
