Mobile charge your mobile charge with PayPal

Has the future of money met the future of transportation all on a mobile device? Could be. Payment company PayPal has joined with GE Energy’s Industrial Solutions business to make it possible for electric vehicle (EV) drivers to pay for charging their EVs at a GE WattStation using the WattStation Connect mobile app and PayPal.

The app also helps EV owners locate a GE WattStation (which can be a challenge), get pricing details, and check the status of the charge while the vehicle is still charging. (PayPal released a video, seen below, of the solution.) The app is currently available for iPhones only.

According to PayPal VP for emerging opportunities Scott Dunlap, it's all a part of PayPal's mission to re-imagine money.

"Our goal is to make money work better and smarter for everyone," Dunlap said in a company blog post. "While others are busy debating which technology will 'win' for mobile payments, we’re delivering on our vision."
