MICROS, payleven team up on mobile POS offering for small merchants
POS provider MICROS and mobile POS company payleven have announced a partnership. The companies said they will be collaborating on the world's first cloud-based point of sale solution that integrates chip-and-PIN card payment technology.
The new solution will be based on the new MICROS Kachng!, a tablet-based POS system. Together, the partners will offer a cloud-based solution for merchants that includes pay-as-you-go pricing. Set-up is simple, as well. Merchants simply download the payleven app and access Kachng! through the browser to set up an account.
The cost for a Kachng! rolling subscription starts at £49 ($75) per month per POS and payleven's charge of 2.75 percent per transaction. A chip-and-PIN reader costs £89 ($136).
"We are committed to bringing the very best retail and hospitality systems to the SME sector and this new partnership means that any small business can now benefit from accepting their customers' credit cards without the commitment to long term banking agreements," said Frank Ward, CEO of MICROS Systems U.K.
The new system is available to existing and new U.K. customers of both MICROS and payleven, the companies said. A European rollout will begin soon.
