Micros announces its new mobile POS
MICROS-Retail, a division of MICROS Systems, Inc., and a provider of retail technology for the specialty and general merchandise retail industry, has announced the launch of miStore, MICROS-Retail's new mobile point of sale solution.
According to the company, miStore communicates directly from devices such as the iPod Touch, iPhone or iPad with the retailer's POS system, ensuring a seamless, real-time exchange of product and customer information not possible in mobile POS programs which store data directly on the handheld device.
Several leading retailers have begun the implementation process of miStore, built on Xstore, MICROS-Retail's flagship POS solution.
miStore works in conjunction with multiple mag-stripe readers and one- and two-dimensional scanner options to support all sales and inventory capabilities. The portability of the devices allows a store associate to more easily bring inventory and past purchase information to customers on the sales floor, efficiently manage shipping and receiving of packages, and facilitates price verification of products without having to roll racks to registers, the company said.
When integrated with MICROS-Retail's Xstore POS, miStore provides real-time and consistent data during a mobile transaction. The mobile POS' integration with backend systems also means that business rules and security parameters are identical. Changes to the logic or configuration are reflected across both systems.
"We are thrilled to launch miStore," said Jane Cannon, CTO of MICROS-Retail. "miStore is truly an extension of the already rich MICROS-Retail platform, which not only offers POS, but also CRM, order management, and e-commerce. Adding mobile POS rounds out our integrated commerce solutions, and we are excited to be able offer this full suite of products to our clients."
