Gift card exchange network Cardpool last week announced a new agreement with mobile payments and rewards platform provider LevelUp.

Through this agreement, Cardpool can enable LevelUp users to sell their unused and partially-used gift cards (both plastic and digital) in exchange for LevelUp credits. Once the gift card is exchanged, a LevelUp user may redeem the resulting credits at any of LevelUp's participating merchants.

"We have over 1.5 million unique users and more than 14,000 merchants that participate in our LevelUp program," said Seth Priebatsch, LevelUp founder and chief executive officer. "By partnering with Cardpool, we're giving our mobile users the widest range of payment options and accessibility, while driving incremental commerce for merchants that accept LevelUp."
