Intuit to sell its mPOS solution in UK through Staples

Intuit announced a new retail partner in the U.K. to help it distribute its Intuit Pay chip-and-PIN mobile POS solution. The three-month pilot means Intuit's card reader will be sold in Staples retail stores, according to a post by Mobile Entertainment.

The in-store cost for the card reader will run small merchants £49 ($77). The cost to process credit and debit cards through the device is 2.75 percent.

"At Staples, we have a long history of providing small business owners with the latest products to help them keep their company moving forward," said Staples' head of retail marketing, Louise Barber, in the post. "Businesses increasingly need the flexibility to take payments from customers anytime, anywhere. Our partnership with Intuit brings cutting-edge Intuit Pay technology to our U.K. customers, demonstrating our continued commitment to support small businesses."

Intuit entered the U.K. market in March, offering its mobile point-of-sale solution with the addition of a chip-and-PIN reader under the Intuit Pay moniker. Other chip-and-PIN reading MPOS providers are entering the U.K., including PayPal's PayPal Here reader that is supposed to be available sometime this summer.
