Grubhub agrees to review phone ordering after NY City Council threatens action
Grubhub plans to convene a task force regarding how it charges restaurants for phone calls, following threats from the New York City Council to enact legislative remedies if the food ordering app did not address concerns about unfair charges, according to Crain's New York Business.
The Council wants Grubhub to hire a third-party to review complaints that participating restaurants were charged for calls that did not result in mobile orders.
The Chicago-based ordering platform has faced months of controversy over phone-ordering allegations that surfaced from restaurants saying they were paying for unfilled orders.
