Google Wallet users with existing balances on loyalty or gift cards will need to use them soon or lose them. According to AndroidSpin, Google is sending out emails notifying users that on Aug. 21, the company will end the current NFC redemption of gift and loyalty cards added to Google Wallet.

The company adds that it is "working with retailers on other options for gift and loyalty card redemption," and is "excited to share them with you soon." Google stresses that all other functionality of Google Wallet will remain and that users can still tap and pay. The change does not affect NFC credit and debit card payments.
