FitBit Pay arrives as 3 card networks provide support

American Express, MasterCard and Visa announced separate deals to bring contactless payments to Fitbit's new smartwatch that will feature an NFC chip.

Fitbit started accepting pre-orders for the $300 Ionic on Monday.

Over the past few years, each of the card networks involved with Fitbit have made it easier for wearable providers to add payment credentials through digital token services.

Fitbit Pay will work like most other contactless payments on devices such as smartphones and other wearables.

Users will upload their card information to Fitbit's mobile app to link a payment method to the smartwatch.
