Payment processor First Data Corporation and mobile commerce services provider SK C&C USA announced the commercial release of a Trusted Service Management (TSM) solution called First Data TSM.

A TSM is a part of the infrastructure that enables the payment capabilities of near field communication (NFC) technologies on mobile devices. The TSM connects issuers of secure accounts such as financial institutions and merchants with mobile network operators, making consumers' financial accounts accessible as a payment method on mobile devices regardless of their carrier or device.

"As more consumers go mobile while managing their busy lives, an increasing number of smartphones equipped with NFC technology are now being deployed across a range of carriers and handsets," said Dom Morea, SVP and division manager, Advanced Solutions and Innovation at First Data. "We're nearing a tipping point where connected consumers with access to a range of NFC-enabled devices and mobile wallets will be able to migrate all of the accounts in their leather wallet to their mobile device in order to make payments anytime or exchange value, anywhere."

Along with integrating issuers with carriers, the First Data TSM solution also gives both wireless carriers and account issuers a variety of secure tools to manage customer accounts.
