Fifth Third Bank launches mobile RDC

Cincinnati-based Fifth Third Bank is now offering mobile deposit functionality for its customers who are iPhone and Android users. The service is available in all Fifth Third markets, according to an announcement from the FI.

"We continue to see customers choose channels such as mobile to manage their finances," said Larry McClanahan, vice president and director of digital delivery for Fifth Third Bank. "The enhancements we've made since introducing mobile banking four years ago — including the introduction of mobile deposit — reflect this shift in consumer preference and expectations."

To use mobile RDC, Fifth Third customers first must download the Fifth Third mobile banking app — or update the app already on their device. Then they simply choose the "Deposit Check" icon in the app, take a photo of the front and back of the check, choose the account to deposit to and confirm the amount.

A confirmation message displays once the item is accepted. Customers can make deposits as late as 8:00 p.m. Eastern time and still get the check processed that business day.

Fifth Third launched mobile banking in 2009 and now offers customers the ability to view account balances and transaction history, pay bills, transfer money between Fifth Third Bank accounts, locate the nearest Fifth Third Banking Center or ATM and make check deposits.
