Fandango offers mobile payment option via PayPal

Movie site Fandango announced it has joined with PayPal to offer a mobile payment option. According to a release, moviegoers who purchase tickets through Fandango's iPhone and Android apps can now use PayPal as a payment method.

"We first offered PayPal as a payment option on the Web, and we’re now pleased to extend it to mobile,” said Fandango EVP and GM Rick Butler in the announcement.

Butler said more than 20 percent of Fandango’s ticket sales come from mobile devices.

According to the announcement, Fandango has seen a 73 percent increase in year-over-year sales of mobile tickets this year. The company even began offering a paperless mobile ticket option last year at select theaters.

"Millions of PayPal customers globally make payments through mobile devices, so combining our frictionless mobile payments experience with Fandango’s iPhone and Android apps makes ticket purchasing easier and faster than ever before,” said David Marcus, vice president of mobile for PayPal.
