eBay launches smartphone-selling program for consumers
A new eBay program called Instant Selling allows consumers to sell unwanted smartphones and get paid instantly with eBay vouchers without having to manage the selling process.
The process, which eBay said takes only minutes to complete, removes time spent waiting the device's eventual sale with an option to to be paid instantly with an eBay voucher once the phone is listed. The company said it provides up to 40 percent higher trade-in values than other services, according to a press release.
An eBay study found that although 61 percent of Americans have never sold or traded an unused smartphone, 40 percent of Americans actually have two or more devices they're not using at home.
"Millions of Americans have unused phones in their homes and simply don't realize how much their devices are worth, probably because trade-in values are typically so low," eBay Vice President of Hard Goods Alyssa Steele said in the release. "With Instant Selling, people can find out exactly how much their phone is worth, and sell their phone within a matter of minutes to immediately help fund the holidays, or maybe something off their personal wish list."
