Curve names former Samsung Pay exec Oestmann as COO

Curve, a U.K.-based fintech that consolidates multiple cards and accounts into a single card and mobile app, said it hired Nathalie Oestmann, the former head of Samsung Pay Europe, to the newly created position of chief operating officer.

Oestmann has been a senior manager of several major organizations, including American Express, Samsung Pay and Idemia. While at Samsung Pay she expanded the mobile wallet service across six European countries and established multiple strategic partnerships.

A spokesman for Curve told Mobile Payments Today that the COO position was created amid a period of rapid growth at the fintech.

"It's a brand new position," Curve spokesman Tom Farthing told Mobile Payments Today. "We're scaling at the rate of knotts — and from next week we'll be over 183 employees."

He said the company has hired 83 people just since May and Oestmann was hired as part of that expansion in order to help manage the growth. She will be in charge of operations and people at the company and will guide the company's expansion in Europe and entry into the U.S. in 2020.
