Chinese handset manufacturer launches mobile-payment system

China-based handset manufacturer Xiami is the latest company to introduce an NFC-based mobile-payment scheme as Mi Pay debuted in the country last week.

Some 20 banks support Mi Pay, which also has the support of China UnionPay. 

Xiami also said Mi Pay users can pay for transit fares using the wallet.
