Braintree makes good on international plans
Online payment processor Braintree has made its international expansion a reality, announcing on its website that merchants in 27 countries can now accept payments through Braintree's payment gateway.
Braintree signaled its plans to go global earlier this summer, but today's announcement means companies in Europe and Canda can now officially get a merchant account, integrate Braintree's payment APIs and begin processing online and mobile payments.
A full list of the 27 countries now served by Braintree is available on the company's site. Braintree said in its post that merchants of all sizes located in those countries can access the company's payment gateway, recurring billing, and vault credit card storage. Braintree already processes payments in more than 130 currencies.
"Braintree has always been committed to making payments easier for developers to integrate and manage, and we’re excited to have the opportunity to make payments easier for international merchants," the blog post said. "Simplifying payments and providing the ability to obtain a merchant account will remove a barrier that has blocked merchants in these countries from getting their business off the ground."
