AT&T, Vantiv partner for mobile payments acceptance
AT&T has teamed up with U.S. payment processor Vantiv to offer two mobile payment products to merchants of all sizes.
The first product, Vantiv Mobile Accept from AT&T, is a mobile app for smartphones and tablets that works with a card reader to allow businesses to swipe credit, debit or prepaid cards.
The second, Vantiv Mobile Checkout from AT&T, is a tablet-based, cloud-connected payment service for businesses that allows them to process payments, and access their business data. It uses Vantiv's Mobile Checkout, a cloud-connected mobile point-of-sale system.
Vantiv Mobile Checkout from AT&T includes an optional cash drawer, countertop receipt printer, tablet stand and encrypted card reader, and allows merchants to access their data from their home, their office or on the road.
Businesses have the option to purchase tablets and connectivity through AT&T.
Vantiv and AT&T said the new solutions support key emerging trends including:
- Field service providers such as plumbers and heating and cooling technicians accepting card payments at customer homes, instead of calling in payments over the phone or mailing bills later;
- Restaurant owners offering a tablet-based, table-side payment option during their busy hours to speed table turnover;
- Retailers capturing and processing customers' email addresses upon payment and running email marketing campaigns to achieve increased customer traffic.
With a nationwide sales force and support network serving 3 million U.S. business customers and its 4G LTE network, AT&T says it can help businesses adopt the tools necessary to facilitate mobile payments.
"Working with AT&T is a perfect way to offer businesses a one-stop-shop for integrated mobile products," Elizabeth Rector, SVP and general manager for eCommerce and Mobile at Vantiv, said in a statement. "AT&T's sales force and its retail locations create a powerful new distribution channel for Vantiv's mobile products to reach the millions of businesses who need this important functionality."
