AT&T chooses CorFire to provide support for NFC Connect

CorFire, the mobile commerce business of SK C&C USA, this week confirmed AT&T's recent announcement of CorFire's selection to provide SP TSM and supporting mobile applications for AT&T's NFC services to be marketed through AT&T NFC Connect, according to a press release. These services will enhance AT&T's NFC offer by enabling non-payment related NFC services, such as Access Control, independent of payment applications executed through AT&T NFC SIM cards. In addition, CorFire also confirmed they are providing the technology for the AT&T Commerce Connect mobile marketing program.

AT&T Commerce Connect will enable merchants and retailers to create and manage the distribution of offers, coupons, ID services and gifting or stored value accounts directly to smartphones, according to the press release.

AT&T recently announced they are participating in a pilot program with CorFire and Blackboard, which provides contactless student card systems to colleges and universities. The three companies are currently evaluating mobile-NFC access at Tulane University in New Orleans and Quinnipiac University in Connecticut, according to the press release.

"It's a great honor to provide a core technology for AT&T's Commerce Connect and NFC Connect product offering," Bumsik Han, president and CEO of CorFire, said in a press release. "AT&T's NFC and non-contactless product offering represents a milestone for the mcommerce and enterprise industries, and reinforces CorFire's leadership in bringing commercially scalable solutions to market."
