Ashton Kutcher rumor confirmed: Actor invests $5m in Dwolla
Did you hear the rumor about Ashton Kutcher? It's true; the actor has contributed $5 million to Dwolla's Series B round that it announced in February, according to SiliconPrairieNews.com.
Kutcher and Dwolla CEO Ben Milne chatted about the partnership at a special edition of PrairieCast Tuesday at StartupCity Des Moines.
"Ashton as an investor is brilliant," Milne said in the interview. '"And it took me awhile to actually understand that, because I didn't know anything about (him)."
Kutcher, who enjoys fame not only for being an actor but also for being a savvy tech investor, backing companies such as Skype, Path, Zaarly, Milk and Airbnb, said he approaches investing in much the same way as he prepares for an acting role.
"It's really similar to being an actor in that when you take on a character you're taking on somebody else, and so you think about how they do things or why they do things," he said. "And I look at a product the same way I would break down a character I was going to play and try to get inside the mind of that person, the user, the consumer."
