MoneyGram International Inc. announced it was waiving fees for customers sending money to the Bahamas in the wake of Hurricane Dorian and is allowing free money transfers to the American Red Cross for anyone looking to support the organization's disaster relief efforts. 

The no-fee transfers apply to MoneyGram retail locations, MoneyGram.com and the MoneyGram app. 

"MoneyGram stands with the people of the Bahamas and all those who were impacted by Hurricane Dorian," Alex Homes, chairman and CEO of MoneyGram, said in a company release. "We hope this small gesture on our part helps contribute to the larger fundraising efforts of the American Red Cross and provides some much needed relief to our friends, family and neighbors in these regions."
