Arts and crafts retailer Michael's is offering contactless same-day delivery options at select store locations and the strategy goes way behind just expanding check-out options.

It comes as millions across the U.S. are being told to stay at home and social distance in the wake of the global COVID-19 pandemic.

"As adults, children, students and teachers adapt to today's new normal (often isolated from others), access to supplies is critical to enabling a creative outlet and keeping brains effectively stimulated. In addition to creating something feel-good for ourselves, this announcement is significant because it offers a greater opportunity for people to learn a new skill or take an online crafting class and continues to support those taking up sewing masks to help our heroes on the frontlines," stated the retailer in a press release.
                            
Michaels launched the contactless delivery option as of April 17, in Texas, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, Oklahoma, South Carolina, and North Carolina and will continue with a national rollout this week.

"Same-cay delivery expands Michaels customers' delivery and pick-up options and enables social distancing through contactless deliveries. Customers, including home-based small businesses, teachers using virtual classrooms, and do-it-yourselfers will continue to have the choice of the ship-to-home service at michaels.com, or curbside pick-ups at participating stores," stated the release.
