Kate Spade to partner with eBay for high-tech NYC pop-up shop

During this week's TechCrunch Disrupt New York, eBay CEO John Donahoe hinted at an upcoming pop-up shop partnership that will enable the long-standing Internet retailer to reach consumers away from the Web.

An article on cnet.com uncovered that the partnership is with Kate Spade, with the pop-up slated to feature a touchscreen storefront window.

"Technology is blurring the lines between online and offline commerce and a 'new retail' environment is emerging. One example of how eBay is partnering with retailers to provide innovative technology solutions is the work we continue to do with the Kate Spade brands and we are excited to be partnering with them on the launch of Kate Spade Saturday in New York," an eBay spokesperson told CNET.

Donahoe said the store aligns with eBay's belief that mobile is transforming retail and that the iPad "has put the consumer in charge of the media business." Donahoe also said he believes people will use multiple screens in a shopping experience, the article reported.
